Practical, Common Sense Legal Solutions

About Randy

I have a passion for helping clients find practical, common sense legal solutions.  Whether you are in need of estate planning, estate administration, ranch or farm succession planning or other business needs; I will work to help you find a practical result. Unfortunately, at times, life forces us to face crisis, either with ourselves or our family members.  When a crisis occurs, I am here to help you find a solution with understanding and compassion.

I completed my Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Geology at the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 1993.  My legal career began in Ord, Nebraska, in 1996, after graduating from the University of Nebraska School of Law.  I have been blessed throughout my career by the mentorship provided by my father-in-law (Robert D. Stowell) during the years I practiced in Ord, Nebraska.  As a child, I lived near Whitney and later spent several summers with my grandparents in both Crawford and Whitney.  My love for the Pine Ridge area in Northwest Nebraska led me to return to Chadron in 2010.  I have been fortunate to work throughout my career in estate planning and administration, including the litigation of estates and trusts.  This experience allows me to work with you to develop an estate plan which strives to avoid litigation.  My understanding of agriculture and work ethic ensures that “sweat equity” is considered as apart of your planning.  My experience as a former county attorney and a defense attorney allows me to meet the needs of you or your family when a crisis arises.

My wife (Kris) and I live near the Chadron State Park and enjoy the beautiful view of the Pine Ridge.  We have two active boys (Rhett and Zane) still at home, and three older children (Zac, Megan and Tate).

Areas of Practice

Estate Planning

Whether you are in need of a simple Will, a Trust, advanced directives, powers of attorney, or long term care planning, I am committed to helping you find a plan which you understand and which meets your goals.

Tax Planning

Even with the recent tax changes in the area of estate taxation, an opportunity exists to plan for the future by involving your CPA and investment advisor to achieve comprehensive results.

Estate Litigation

While I strive to eliminate controversy in the administration of estates, difficult situations do arise.  During such times, I work to protect your interests.

Succession Planning

Building a ranch, farm or business is often only the first step; if a succession plan is not implemented, much of our work can be lost.  I am committed to helping you find a succession plan that ensures continued success.

Corporations/LLC’s

Whether you are in need of a new entity for your start-up business, an entity to limit liability or for family asset management, my office is here to meet your needs.

Criminal Law

Unfortunately, situations occur in our lives and our family member’s lives which require criminal matters to be addressed from time to time.  At such times, I can provide practical advice and a strong defense, when necessary.

Estate Administration

The loss of a family member presents a great challenge.  My office can help you through the administration of the estate with compassion and understanding.

Real Estate

From leases to selling your property, or completing a §1031 tax deferred exchange, I can help you find cost effective solutions.

Business Needs

I am here to help you with all of your business needs; whether it is a contract, lease, or planning.
